A Little Bit About Me…

Hi everyone! It’s me - Brittany Smith. Let me start by saying, THANK YOU for visiting my site! Creating a website/blog has been a dream of mine for the longest, but I always came up with excuses as to why I couldn’t. Thanks to a lot of you, you gave me that final push I needed to try this sort of forum out, and I’m really excited to share my thoughts, ideas, and personality!

SO… if you know me, you know that I have a passion for two things: traveling and teaching. Since I was about 12 years old I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and it didn’t take long for me to follow that path. In 2015 I graduated from Rowan University, and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as a second degree in Liberal Studies: English and Writing. Shortly after graduating, I began my career teaching prek in New Jersey and I’ve been there ever since! I recently earned my ESL (English as a Second Language) certification, and I’m currently in the works of receiving my Masters of Education degree in Teacher Leadership (expected this August)! While I plan to stay in the classroom for now, I hope that my extensive knowledge will allow me to better cater to the diversity in my classroom and dual language learners.

Aside from educating the youth, I travel as often as possible. Four years ago my father passed away unexpectedly, while at the same time my mom was battling Stage 3 Sarcoma Cancer. (My mom is now in remission, thank God). Some very brutal life lessons were learned during this time, but one of the most valuable was, “life is short.” Cliche, but true. Since then, I’ve tried to dedicate my free time to exploring the world outside of New Jersey, learning and experiencing new cultures, and going outside of my comfort zone. Which means… Lots of SOLO TRAVELING.

I’m not sure exactly what the future holds for me, but I do know I want to someday soon release my own series of children’s books, and that’s what I’ll be working on over the next year! Stay tuned! :)
